Joel Nadler is a photographer from Central New Jersey who got his start exploring an abandoned county mental hospital in Northern New Jersey. Fascinated with this historic place, he went on to produce a short documentary focused on the hospital’s importance within the local community. Joel started his journey in photography while attending Goucher College and at the Glasgow School of Art. Intrigued by the history of abandoned places, he began documenting more of them through his photography. His studies in historic preservation and communications created a perfect foundation for this type of photography. Joel is proud to share his images and impressions of these lost places and is eager to tell readers what it’s like to explore them.
