Charles E. Herdendorf writes this book in association with the Sheffield Village Historical Society, where he serves as president and editor of the society’s journal, The Village Pioneer. Dr. Herdendorf, professor emeritus of geological sciences at The Ohio State University, is a descendant of Sheffield’s founding families and lives in one of the village’s historic homes.
