Dan Guarino was born and raised in Queens, New York. A lifelong writer in a variety of genres, he started as Associate Editor of The Wave, an award winning local Rockaway/Broad Cannel newspaper, just after surviving Hurricane Sandy in 2012. A photographer/visual artist, his work has appeared in over three dozen exhibitions. He is also a musician/singer and performing artist, and President of the Rockaway Artists Alliance. With his late wife, Liz Guarino, he co-authored Images of America: Broad Channel, the first published book about the island community. Today Dan cherishes Broad Channel as his home and holds a special place for the Rockaways.
